With baseball over(thank the lord) and track coming to a close, which I'm excited about since I no longer coach track. I was wondering if anyone had any speed drills that they use for off-season programs that work really well. I'd appreciate anything offered.

We use three drills constantly..got them from Coach Hudson..OC at Duncan. You probably already do them.Don't know how much faster you will get but it does improve quickness and agilty and helps your DB's plant and go forward/backward etc.

1.Pro Agility-Three cones five yards apart.Player starts in the middle, goes to one then 10 yards to the other then finish where he started.

2.Nebraska-4 cones in a box figure 10 yards apart.Player sprints to the first cone then slide shuffles to the next then back pedals back to the next then throws the elbow to get square and forward and sprints to the end.

3.Notre Dame-6 cones length wise 10 yards apart side wise 5 yards apart.Sprint 10 yards forward to the first cone circles around backwards and back pedals at an angle to the second cone.Plants and sprints forward ten yds to the next.Keep repeating until we get to the end where we throw the elbow get forward and finish.

We get times on all these, have school records etc. They really work at this to try and beat their times.
I know some of these may be hard to explain so if you are really interested I will send you a diagram if needed.
We do each of these 3 times along with 3 40's so they get 12 runs in with time.
